Hidden Secrets!

A few days ago I was passing through Lincoln Center and I was struck by the beauty of this fountain. Now, I have passed this fountain, perhaps, a thousand times in my life but never before did I notice the magic that it held. Peradventure, this is due to the very simple fact that I am not a fan of modern architecture. However, I had to laugh out loud as I remembered my favorite quote by Roald Dahl ~ Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you, because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it! I guess, I finally had my glittering eyes on the day I spied this modern Adam's ale portal!

  1. Oh, my -- that is a beautiful photo! I've never heard that quote before, but I absolutely love it. I keep a file of quotes I like; I will be adding that one to it! Thank you for sharing this; it is a great reminder of how important it is to truly look around and see things. To not just hurry by, or take things for granted.

    Lovely! xoxo

  2. Beautiful photo, need to take more time to appreciated things like fountains, lakes, ponds, and waterfalls.

It is so sad the way modern architecture is taking over NYC. Part of what sets apart NYC from the rest of the country is it is one of the few American cities with a history and where you see buildings which are at least 100 years old. I hate seeing old places destroyed to make way for new monstrosities. I also love the bits and pieces we see of the cities past on things like old signs painted on buildings.

  3. Thank you, Sarah! And I wholehearted agree with you that the historical aspect of our fair cities should be preserved...if only for their beauty! I also adore ghost signs on buildings!!
